ABOUT US
Temple Israel is a diverse, welcoming Reform Congregation that enables all to establish a personal connection based on spirituality, Jewish education, social responsibility, and a sense of community. We invite all to experience the sense of community that makes us one family.
Our synagogue is an exciting and active place, and we pride ourselves on being a warm and caring community. Temple Israel is many things for our congregants: a holy place to worship God; a center to learn about and experience our amazingly rich Jewish tradition; a comfortable location to meet and make friends; and a working center for living Judaism. It is also a place of creative exploration, where we can seek that which moves and excites us religiously and intellectually.
At Temple Israel, we honor the tradition of life-long learning, starting with our pre-k kids. We offer a variety of worship services and our congregants are engaged in living Judaism through meaningful social action, community outreach, an active Sisterhood and Men's Group and a variety of social events.
Temple Israel is the second oldest congregation in Georgia, a Charter Member of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations, now the Union for Reform Judaism, and we continue to be pioneers in Reform Judaism.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
Reform Judaism maintains the Covenant and faith between God and Israel through generations of loving Torah traditions, interpretations, and practices.
WHAT WE DO
We work together to build a strong and vibrant Jewish community through helping others a mitzvot at a time. When not helping the community grow and thrive, we celebrate life and come together to enjoy times and company together.
WHO WE ARE
As Reform Jews, we are loving and accepting of many in all walks of life. We carry our faith and practice throughout the community through tikkun olam, repair of the world through a relationship with God.
