RABBI EMERITA
Rabbi Schwartz was named Rabbi of Temple Israel in 2012. She welcomes Jewish curiosity and promotes Jewish learning, culture, and conscience. Rabbi Schwartz encourages all our members to affirm their Jewish identity at home, in the synagogue, and in the community. She is active in the Columbus area as a speaker, teacher, and advocate for education, understanding, and respect. Rabbi Beth Schwartz retired in July 2021 and is now our Rabbi Emerita.
DEBBIE P ANDERSON
MUSIC DIRECTOR, SINGER
Debbie Anderson has served as a cantorial soloist at Temple Israel since the year 2000, and as the part-time musical director since 2010. She feels deeply connected to Jewish music and liturgy, and is grateful to be a part of the Temple Israel family over these many years. Debbie also is the fulltime musical director at the Springer Opera House and teaches applied voice at Columbus State University. She is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Music Education degree, and earned her Master's degree in Music Education from Columbus State University in 2011 where she worked under the tutelage of Professor Constantina Tsolainou in choral conducting.
